As International Program Director you provide guidance, direction, and support to the International Department team. You have the overall responsibility for the progression of projects within the parameters of time, costs and quality. You ensure compliance, reporting requirements, designs administrative procedures and facilitates collaboration with strategic foundations and Institutional donors.

You are a dynamic leader profile with demonstrated experience in programming in fragile, humanitarian and development contexts. You excel in leading diverse teams, and you take responsibility for a good working environment that supports employee learning, engagement, development and well-being.

The International Department has 20 employees divided into two teams – a Technical Team and a Program, Grants & Compliance Team. As International Program Director, you will join Rasmus, Giorgi and Nicolai in the leadership group.

Tasks:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Manage and allocate resources in the International Department.
  • Ensure a good and safe working environment with optimal working conditions supporting employee development, learning, engagement and well-being.
  • Ensure focus and capacity to grow CARE’s portfolio and be proactive in pursuing new fundraising opportunities.
  • Report regularly on the economic development of programs and projects.
  • Overall responsible for handling fraud and corruption cases (procedures and training).
  • Ensure quality and timeliness in deliverables for CARE’s strategic partnership agreements and program and departmental level donor compliance requirements.
  • Provide direction and prioritization of CARE Denmark’s international work.
  • Support profiling and strategic relations of CARE Denmark with key donors and strategic partners.
  • Coordination with CARE confederation and reflection of CDK local leadership.

Programs & Projects – coordinate resources to:

  • Identify and engage relevant partners in cooperation with country offices.
  • Oversee the design, quality, and growth of programs globally to ensure alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Ensure that relevant thematic/technical expertise is incorporated in programs and projects, including budget coverage.
  • Ensure timeliness and quality in project development, management, and deliveries and in accordance with agreed time plans, results framework, and budgets.
  • Ensure projects are managed in compliance with CARE procedures for financial management and administration including monitoring, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and communication.

About you:

You have a proven track record of leading and supporting diverse teams in challenging contexts and vast experience from similar jobs.

You have personal impact as well as strong relational and communicative skills, and you lead by being a frontrunner and setting direction, you communicate the way forward and create strong working relations by inspiring, motivating and delegating.

You are a constructive and solution-oriented sparring partner for employees in the International Department and for your colleagues the leadership group. It is a requirement that you master English at the negotiation level. Speaking and understanding Danish is a plus.
