The impact we have
Creating lasting change for the most climate vulnerable populations on the planet.
CARE is committed in supporting the world’s most climate vulnerable populations with relevant, sustainable and green solutions. Wherever we work we strive to create impact – very often in innovative ways that challenge conventional responses.
From solutions to resilience
CARE DK works from the belief that solutions to the climate crises have the highest impact when they are designed and led by local communities.
Using what is known as a Human-centred design (HCD), CARE has supported communities with developing climate-smart solutions, including scaling up bio-digesters, establishing community-level drip irrigation and introducing black soldier fly-farming in camp settings.
This has created new green livelihood opportunities and resilience for local communities who are now better equipped climate changes.
CARE implemented 57 projects across 21 countries supporting local communities in overcoming drought, poor water access, lack of livelihood opportunities and conflict.
Climate innovation & HCD
When we apply a human-centred design and business models are in place, we see long-term sustainable change, as shown in the graph below.
Our impact numbers
CARE DK continuously tracks and monitors local impact to learn, improve and ultimately improve the lives of as many people and eco-systems as possible. Below are some of the indicators we use:
# of people who experience lasting change, supported by CARE DK’s climate projects (since 2020):
Average reach of CARE and partners – climate innovation activities and emergency responses:
% of all CARE DK’s projects that are led by partners and frontline communities (2025):
% of projects that directly empower and support women’s participation, voices and action (2025)
