CARE Danmark supports the development and dissemination of improved agricultural techniques. All over the world, an increasingly harsh and unpredictable climate is challenging existing farming practices and crops.
CARE’s ‘Climate Smart’ approach to agriculture has led to increased yield and more sustainable production for poor smallholder farmers in all the countries where it has been tested so far.
In several places CARE’s techniques and methods for ensuring poor smallholder farmers’ participation have been recognised and incorporated into the planning processes of local authorities. This means that best practices from one community or municipality can be copied by other communities and municipalities.
In addition, it means that the rights of poor agriculturalists – women and ethnic minorities in particular – are recognised and that they are able to increase their influence, and get a stronger voice.
